- Open the PPP Control Panel.
- Go to the Apple icon in the upper left-hand corner of the screen
- Go to the Control Panel Folder
- Select PPP

- Enter your user name
- Enter your password
- "Check" Save Password if you do not want to be prompted for your password
again
- Enter your Local Access Number
Lookup your access number here
- Click "Options"
- Set the "Redial" option to "Redial main number only."
- Set it to redial 10 times.
- Set it to wait 5 seconds between each try.
- Click the Connection tab.
- "Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications." - YES
- "Use Verbose Logging" - NO
- "Flash icon in menu bar while connected." - YES
- "Prompt Every 5 Minutes to Maintain Connection" - NO
- "Disconnect if Idle for 10 minutes" - NO
- Click Protocol Tab

- Allow error correction and compression in modem - YES
- Use TCP header compression - YES
- Connect to command line host - NO
- CLICK OK
- Close the PPP Control Panel
- If you are asked to save settings, click "SAVE"
SET UP MODEM
- Go to the Apple icon in the upper left-hand corner of the screen
- Go to the Control Panels Folder
- Select Modem

- Connect Via.. Select the Modem Port
- Modem.. Select your Modem
- Sound.. On
- Dialing.. Tone
- Do NOT Check "Ignore Dial Tone"
- Close this Panel.. If prompted to save.. click "Save"
- Go to the Apple icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen
- Go to the Control Panel Folder
- Select TCP/IP
- Go to the Edit Menu and choose "User Mode"
- This will bring up the panel below...

- Set it on "Advanced"
- Click "OK"... this will bring us the "Advanced Options" (see below)

- Configure the TCP/IP Panel as follows:
- Set "Connect via" to "PPP"
- Set "Configure" to "Using PPP Server"
- In the Name server addr: box, type in the DNS addresses.
- 208.201.152.2
- 208.201.152.3
- In the box below Starting domain name, type empire.net
- In Additional Search domains, type: empire.net
- Leave the Ending domain name blank.
- Refer to the above picture to verify that your settings are correct.
- Click the Options button.
- Select "Active"
- Put a check in front of "Load only when needed"
- Click OK
- Close the TCP/IP Control Panel. Your computer will prompt you to save the changes. Click
"Save."
- Restart the computer. (Go to the special menu and choose "Restart.")
- To connect, open your web browser and the software will automatically dial.
