Computer Vandalism Policy
Soquel High has provided quality computer equipment in the Library
Media Center and computer labs through the campus. This equipment is intended to provide a rich learning environment
for student to improve their technical and academic skills.
The Soquel High Computer
Vandalism Policy will address this problem through the following remedies:
Computer Vandalism Policy
1)
Vandalism to computer or technology equipment is a
violation of Education Code Section 48900 (f) Caused or attempted to cause
damage to school or private property.
2)
Teachers who have damage occur in their classrooms will
identify students who are suspected of the damage. An administrator will interview students regarding the
incident. If the suspected students do
not cooperate and verify who is responsible for the damage, all will be subject
to the following disciplinary measures:
A)
A student who damages or disables computers or other
technology equipment will be cited as violators of this code and suspended from
school from 3 to 5 days. The suspension
will be logged in their permanent discipline file.
B)
The student will be dropped from the class where the
vandalism occurred with an “F” grade.
C)
A minimum fine of $50 will be levied to cover the cost of
repairs. The fine may be increased
depending on the extent of the damage.
3)
Computer and technology vandalism is considered a violation
of the Santa Cruz City School Acceptable Use Agreement. Students guilty of this violation will be
banned from any class that uses computers or technology for the current
semester and the subsequent semester.
